Martyn Royce, Guinness World Record Attempt - Fastest time to travel through all 132 MBTA Commuter Rail Stations
Hello Fitchburg Community!
My name is Martyn Royce. I emigrated to Fitchburg from the UK back in March of 2020, and have more than 10 years of experience working in the rail industry, and I’m currently an employee with Keolis Commuter Services. Since moving, and especially in the last nine months since commencing work on the network, I've grown to appreciate and love what the railways are to the people of Boston and beyond.
And so… I’m going to be attempting something big. Something that hasn’t been achieved before. Over the course of Feb. 28th through to March 1st, as approved by Guinness, I will be attempting to establish the world record for the fastest time to travel through ALL MBTA Commuter Rail stations. By my current count, that’s 132. A journey that will take me roughly 40 hours essentially nonstop.
In posing this challenge to myself, I’m also hoping to use this as an opportunity to fundraise for one of my most dear charities, The American Cancer Society. I lost my cousin to bowel cancer in 2018, and my mother-in-law is currently battling breast cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. If you would consider donating to my ACS fundraiser, it would be the biggest show of support for my record attempt!
I am also working on putting together a way for any interested local businesses to sponsor my fundraiser. My plan is to put together a t-shirt that I will wear on the outside of my jacket throughout my journey, and put business logos or names on the back for everyone to see!
